The goal of Life Spreadsheet is to allow you to see how financial decisions will impact you over the course of your entire life. Right now it’s just spreadsheet, but we are trying to build a framework that people can use to first understand their finances, and then make better decisions.
For example, if you took out a loan to buy a car now, how much longer will you need to work before you could retire? Or, what are the tax consequences of paying off a student loan faster, or a mortgage? Is it worth it for your spouse to have a job considering the increased taxes and other expenses you’ll pay?
The beauty of this approach is that it’s specific to you and flexible enough to include almost any scenario, but again, it’s still in its early stages so be patient 🙂
